A Note from Our Founder, Jim Diaz
I have always been wedded to service, from Boy Scouts as an adolescent to the United States Naval Sea Cadet Corps as a teenager, to eventually joining the United States Marine Corps. It was in the Fleet Marine Force, that I came to fully understand the true meaning of service to this great country. That, combined with getting married and having three children during my time in service of America taught me sacrifice on both a personal and professional level. The confidence and leadership I developed during those years would shape my core values.
After my service, I joined the work force. Participation and contribution to the economy through honest and hard work was very rewarding—and also exhausting, with having to raise three daughters and sometimes work multiple jobs all at once. I felt a tremendous responsibility to prepare my children for the real world, which is tough and unforgiving.
Throughout my career, I was granted leadership roles in the various organizations and companies I joined. My goal was always to have a positive impact on those around me.
I have worked in building maintenance departments, as well as in project management for ground-up construction projects and full renovations of government regulated housing. Further, I have sought, reviewed, and awarded millions of dollars in contracts, from small $1,000 bids to $1.4M capital improvements. I have conducted safety inspections and maintained comprehensive safety programs. Most importantly, I have experienced OSHA inspections firsthand.
When I started Diamond Touch Strategies, my goal was to continue to have a positive influence on others—especially the sole proprietors and the small businesses that contribute so much to this society—and also to allow them to benefit from my knowledge and experience. The different governmental agencies (Cal/OSHA and OSHA, to name a couple) have so many rules and regulations that business owners must dedicate many hours to following them, which takes away from their ability to earn a living or grow their companies. The resulting fines, if those rules and regulations are not followed, can be crippling to a small company, and the insurance ramifications can be devastating.
Most small businesses cannot afford to hire an employee dedicated to making sure all of the rules are followed and the requirements met. I offer my expertise in that area with a simple “pay as you go” program, which frees up small business owners and their employees to focus on more important things, like servicing their customers and growing their businesses!
